How to use Long Tail Pro to research keywords

In previous articles, I have guided you Using Google Keyword Planner to research keywords. And in this article, I will show you how to research keywords with Long Tail Pro. If you do not have this tool, you can consider buying it after reading My Review of Long Tail Pro.
Long Tail Pro is a tool to help you save time and effort for keywords research. But how to use it to fully optimize your work is not the easy thing. That’s what I’m going to show you in this article.

Analysis of keyword’s competition

This is the longest and most difficult part when you research keywords. Search a keyword satisfaction factors was difficult, finding a keyword with low competition level is even more difficult. In this section, I will guide you using Long Tail Pro tool to analyze  the competitiveness of any keyword.
There are several types of competitive analysis of keywords, however I will guide you the best way and also the most way I use, it is the TOP 10 analysis.

Above is the interface of keyword’s competition in Long Tail Pro.
Looking through a few indicators, I would point out the following:

• URL: Link Page in TOP 10
• Title: The title of this Page
• KC: Keyword Competitive, is one indicator of keyword’s competition made by Long Tail Pro. According to my experience, it correct to 80%, meaning that 10 keyword you choose, there will be 2 keyword wrong.
• Page Authority: is Moz’s calculated metric for how well a given webpage is likely to rank in Google.com’s search results.
• Page Links: This is the number of links that point to Page, including Internal Link and Backlink. That means this index is not completely accurate because it includes Internal Link, while what we need is the number of Backlink.
• Juice Page Links: Example: Page was ranked TOP is A, Link pointing to Page A is B (Including Internal Link and Backlink), the Juice Page Link is the link C to point to B. We have pattern: C -> B -> A, then C is called the Jui Page Link of A.
• Domain Authority: Moz’s best estimate of how well a domain will perform in search.
• MozRank represents a link popularity score.
• Pagerank: an algorithm used by Google Search to rank websites in their search engine results.
• Site Age: Age of Domain.

There are many indicators in the Long Tail Pro, however there are important, normal and bullshit indicator. I will divide into three levels for everyone to visualized, okay?

Level 3: Bullshit

These are indicators most useless of Long Tail Pro. It is almost impossible to show something, so you do not need to care about it.
Domain Authority
What we need to attention is the strength of PAGE on TOP rather than the whole site, so you do not need to care about this indicator. This index will be useful in some cases, but certainly not this case.
Site Age
Can Age of domain tell you how strong of the site? Of course not.

Level 2: Normal

These are indicators of Level 2. After search index at Level 1, you may consider these factors. Anyway here are a few factors worthy of our attention:
URL
This is not really an important factor, but it also has some effects when watching Onpage optimization of these Page. Just glance at the URL, if you find about 6 pages with keywords in the URL, it is prove that your keyword are optimized Onpage quite thoroughly, and there seems to be a little competitive.
Page Links
This is very important factor if it only displays Backlink. Unfortunately, it shows both Internal Links and Backlink, so it’s no longer accurate. You can look for references but to exactly for your results, you can use Ahrefs.
mozRank
This is one factor similar to PageRank. And because it uses both Internal Links and Backlink so it also not highly improbable. You can glance at it. Usually the average is 3-4.
Pagerank
PR has recently regained a part of its influence, but still less than the index of level 1. If more than 3 pages with PR 4 or higher, it is worth considering.

Level 1: Important

These are factors you have to look at first when researching keywords. Here it is:
Title
Title is almost decide when you want to evaluate Onpage of a Page. And it’s funny when Page is optimized Onpage for a keyword, but do not contain the keyword in the title, right? However, thanks to the recent Hummingbird algorithm, the check Title no longer very accurate, but anyway this is one important factor needs to check FIRST.
Juice Page Links
This is one of the crucial factors, in period that Spam backlink not solve the problem at all. One page has strong Juice Page Links (> 50) which means that Page is hard to beat.
Page Authority
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Please read the definition. The index says that Page’s competition on Google.com. And what more appropriate indicator to check the FIRST when researching keyword? The average number is usually 40-50.
Keyword Competitive
Do not look at this index in each Page. Just look at the average index of 10 index. The average level is 35. If KC > 35, the keywords that are difficult to TOP.

Find potential keywords with Long Tail Pro

This is interface of Long Tail Pro, it’s very simple:

1. Fill Seed Keyword to Search box
2. Enter Buyer Keyword to Include box
3. Enter Negative keywords to Exclude box
4. Tick to Apply Filter box
5. Enter the smallest search volume
6. Tick to Number of Words box: You can fill 3 to have Long Tail Keywords
7. Click Generate Keyword

Choose Keywords

Above is a list of keywords results, you can click on the Local Search to rearrange search turns from high to low. Then click on each keyword to analise TOP 10.
Repeat these steps until you find perfect keyword set.

Conclusion

Is Keyword Research difficult? Yes, it is. If you don’t know anything about it, it will take many time and effort of you. But, i believe with Long Tail Pro, you will be professional keyword researcher soon.
